What makes Live #Pink interesting is the restraint hiding inside what looks like a simple fruity-floral. Raspberry is a loud note by nature, the kind of berry sweetness that can flatten everything around it if left unchecked. Placing violet in the heart, with its powdery, almost cosmetic character, pulls the sweetness off-axis in a useful way. Violet carries that retro lipstick quality, slightly soapy, slightly dusty, the kind of smell that drifts out of old powder compacts and modern body mists alike.

The evolution

The first fifteen minutes belong to raspberry, and raspberry alone. It's jammy rather than fresh, the cooked-down version of the fruit, closer to preserves than a handful of fresh berries. There's a slight candied edge that keeps it from veering into candy territory. Around the twenty-minute point, the violet starts stepping forward, and the composition shifts from sweet to sweet-tinted. The violet here is the powdery kind, the one that smells like the inside of a vintage compact or a bathroom counter lined with talc. It mutes the raspberry's brightness without killing it, turning the whole thing softer and more cosmetic. By the two-hour mark, the fruit has mostly receded, and the sandalwood takes over the conversation. It reads warm and slightly creamy, not the dry sandalwood of old-school masculine perfumery, but the milky, almost soapy version. The drydown lingers for several more hours as a quiet skin scent, the kind of sandalwood-musky warmth that someone leaning in close might catch.
