Gentle King was born from Tianle Feng’s first encounter with a lion on the Serengeti’s endless plains. The regal yawn, the raw power of the animal, sparked a desire to bottle that untamed reverence. In 2021 the perfumer translated the moment into scent, using peppery sparks to echo the lion’s breath, cedar and hay to suggest the dry grass, and a resinous base that mirrors the lingering heat of the savanna after sunset.

The pepper duo, Black and Sichuan, creates a sharp, almost electric bite that recalls the lion’s sudden inhale, while aldehydes add a fleeting, metallic shimmer like heat wavering off the horizon. Cedar and Hinoki Wood ground the composition with a forest‑like calm, and oakmoss plus hay evoke the dry, sun‑bleached grasses of the plains. The base weaves frankincense’s incense, violet leaf’s green edge, and oud’s animalic depth, softened by amber, tonka bean and white musk, giving the scent a lingering, dignified warmth that stays close to the skin.
