The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
"Bomblicious" arrived in 2019 as a counter-argument to Flowerbomb's own success. The original became iconic, but also known for being heavy, almost syrupy in warm weather. The brief was simple: keep the DNA, lower the volume. Four perfumers took the task, Fanny Bal, Dominique Ropion, Carlos Benaïm, and Domitille Michalon Bertier. Their solution was citrus, pushed to the front and kept there longer than convention would suggest. Grapefruit, mandarin, bergamot, an opening bright enough to cut through anything. Then the flowers arrive, but gentler, cushioned by the cashmere wood base. "Bomblicious" is Flowerbomb made playful. Made wearable. Made for the people who wanted to love it but couldn't get past the sweetness.
What makes Bomblicious work is the balance in the base. Cashmere wood, musk, patchouli, they ground the florals without smothering them. They give the rose and jasmine somewhere to land, something to lean against. Without that foundation, the citrus and flowers would float, disconnected. With it, the fragrance breathes. The blackcurrant is doing something clever in the heart, it adds a tartness that keeps the rose from being purely romantic. There's a little edge there, a dark fruitiness that surprises. Jasmine brings its characteristic warmth, but in this context it reads as depth rather than heaviness.
The evolution
On skin, the citrus opens like a window thrown open in a stuffy room. Grapefruit leads, tart, bright, assertive. Mandarin follows within minutes, adding sweetness. Bergamot smooths the edges. This citrus chorus holds for roughly 30 to 45 minutes before the florals begin to emerge. The rose appears first, soft and familiar. Blackcurrant adds a dark, slightly tart fruitiness that keeps things interesting. Jasmine arrives last in the heart, bringing its characteristic warmth and depth. By the second hour, the base begins to surface, cashmere wood's velvety softness, the clean feel of musk, the earthiness of patchouli. The drydown is intimate, settling close to the skin rather than projecting outward. It stays there for hours five through eight, quiet but present, the kind of scent that someone standing very close will notice before you do.
Cultural impact
Flowerbomb Bomblicious found its audience among those who admired the original but found it too heavy for everyday wear. It became the accessible counterpart, lighter, easier, more versatile. In the context of the Flowerbomb franchise, it represents a deliberate softening, a version designed for warmer climates and closer quarters. The fragrance doesn't reinvent anything. It refines. Bomblicious is Flowerbomb for people who want the DNA without the density.
