The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Stronger With Dua Sandalwood arrived in 2025 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line. Perfumer Mahsam Raza built this one around sandalwood given the lead role rather than the supporting one, which is unusual for a modern sweet-spicy oriental. The result draws on the warm-spicy DNA of Emporio Armani's Stronger With You lineage and steers the composition toward a chestnut note that adds an unexpected roasted warmth to the usual saffron-vanilla template. Sandalwood anchors the drydown with a creamy, dense presence, while saffron opens the top with its warm, slightly leathery heat.
What makes the composition interesting is the restraint. Five notes total. Saffron opens, lavender and chestnut hold the middle, and sandalwood and vanilla do all the closing work. The chestnut is the surprise ingredient. It sits between the aromatic lavender and the creamy sandalwood, adding a nutty warmth that you don't expect in a profile this lean. It changes what could read as a standard sweet-spicy into something with more texture, more chew. The composition feels deliberate in how few materials it uses, and each note earns its space.
The evolution
The opening belongs entirely to saffron, and it announces itself with authority. Warm, slightly leathery, with a brightness that keeps the heat from going heavy too fast. It just takes up more of the composition than you expect. The 30-minute mark brings the lavender, and the contrast is immediate. Cool, herbal against the saffron's warmth. It's the cleanest the fragrance will smell in its run. Then the chestnut emerges, and the whole thing shifts register. The sharpness rounds out. The warmth deepens into something roasted, almost edible. The sandalwood has been building underneath this whole time, and by the two-hour mark it takes over. Creamy, dense, slightly milky. The vanilla arrives last and quietly sweetens everything without tipping into dessert territory.
Cultural impact
Within The Dua Brand's catalog, this 2025 release sits in the Inspired Expression line, also referred to as the Dua Designer Line. It draws on a well-known designer template and reworks it with sandalwood given the lead. The chestnut note adds a roasted warmth to the usual saffron-vanilla structure, giving the composition more texture than a straightforward reading of the family would offer. The fragrance maintains the warm-spicy character of its source DNA while shifting the balance of materials, with sandalwood as the dominant base note rather than a background player.
