The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Scrumptious exists because someone looked at Roja Parfums' Sweetie Aoud and asked: what if this cost less without costing less? The Dua Brand built its identity on exactly this kind of question. Founded in 2016, the house operates from Los Angeles with a satellite operation in Dubai, studying the architecture of luxury compositions and reconstructing them with transparent sourcing and approachable pricing. Scrumptious is part of the Inspired Expression collection, a name that makes no apologies for what it is. The 2018 release takes the original's rose-oud structure and runs with it, trusting that the wearer knows what they're reaching for.
The note list is long, but it follows a clear logic. Bergamot and juniper arrive first, a crisp, almost resinous opening that sets the tone before cumin enters with its signature edge. The heart layers May rose against smoky, earthy materials like cypriol and gurjan balsam, creating a tension between floral delicacy and woodsy weight. What makes this composition interesting is how the sweet notes never fully surrender to the spice. They're there throughout, threading warmth beneath the sharpness, keeping the fragrance from tipping into pure intensity.
The evolution
The bergamot hits first, clean, bright, almost astringent. Thirty seconds in, the juniper takes over and the scent shifts toward something cooler, greener. Cumin arrives around the five-minute mark and stays, adding that characteristic edge that pulls the fragrance away from pretty and toward interesting. The rose doesn't announce itself so much as it softens the landing, a quiet sweetness beneath the spice. By the two-hour mark, the drydown settles into smoky woods, guaiac, cedar, a whisper of oud, with enough sweetness remaining to keep it warm against skin. On fabric, it lasts through the evening. The next morning, a faint warmth remains, like the memory of a fire that burned down hours ago.
Cultural impact
Scrumptious occupies a specific corner of the fragrance world: the inspired expression that doesn't hide what it is. For wearers who know Sweetie Aoud, this is the accessible version that keeps the essential character intact. It's a fragrance for people who care more about what they smell like than what bottle sits on their shelf.
