The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Poseidon, the retrospective god. The one who calms the waters long enough to think. Reminiscent Poseidon takes its name from that pause, the moment when even the storm-god steps back and surveys what he's done. Released by The Dua Brand as part of their Inspired Hybrid collection, it brings the Creed Aventus and Dior lineage into one composition, a fresh-smoke hybrid built for the wearer who wants both the spark and the shadow. The opening hits bright and citrus-forward, grapefruit blossom and Calabrian bergamot crackling across the first impression, before the fruit cools into something more deliberate. Pineapple and blackcurrant push the conversation forward, pink pepper buzzing quietly underneath, and then the smoke arrives with birch tar settling into the composition like a low tide.
The interesting move here is the juxtaposition. Pineapple and birch tar don't naturally share a room. One smells like a cocktail on a terrace, the other like a woodshop in winter. Putting them in the same composition forces a tension that most fragrances avoid, and that's what makes Reminiscent Poseidon more than a simple hybrid. The Calabrian bergamot adds a peppery brightness to the opening, while oakmoss and ambergris in the base ground the fruit so it doesn't float away into candy territory. It's a controlled collision, and the balance is what gives it dimension.
The evolution
The opening is all brightness. Grapefruit blossom and Calabrian bergamot crackle over the top while pineapple and blackcurrant push the fruity angle forward. Pink pepper adds a quiet buzz underneath, nothing aggressive, just a low hum. Then something shifts. The smoke arrives. Birch tar deepens the composition, patchouli darkens it further, and the floral notes, jasmine and rose, soften the edges without smoothing them out completely. The fruit doesn't disappear here, it gets roasted, turning from fresh-picked to caramelized, from bright to braised. As the composition wears on, oakmoss, ambergris, vanilla, and musk settle into a warm mineral base, something that feels less like skin and more like weathered wood touched by salt air.
Cultural impact
Reminiscent Poseidon earns its place in The Dua Brand's lineup by doing what the house's Inspired Hybrid concept promises, merging two recognizable profiles into a single composition without either one dominating. The pineapple-and-birch-tar tension gives it a recognizable signature, the kind of contrast that makes a fragrance easy to identify in a crowded room. That contrast, bright fruit against dark smoke, has become one of the more distinctive pairings in recent hybrid work, and Reminiscent Poseidon leans into it without reservation.
