The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Poseidon's Reflection arrived in 2022 from The Dua Brand, a house with a catalog of originals and inspired-by compositions. This one is a deliberate hybrid, taking Creed Aventus and Amouage Reflection for Men and weaving them into a single bottle. The name borrows Poseidon from the brand's own series, while the concept borrows two giants from modern perfumery. The pineapple-led opening of Aventus and the dewy floral heart of Reflection share space here, supported by a woody base of sandalwood, cedar, vanilla, and musk that grounds the whole thing. It opens loud with pineapple and bergamot, softens into neroli, jasmine, and orris at the heart, and settles into birch, patchouli, and ambergris before the drydown takes over.
Aventus lives in sharp fruit, smoke, and birch. Reflection Man drifts through neroli, jasmine, and florals supported by orris root. The opening of this hybrid runs through pineapple, bergamot, neroli, jasmine, and orris root, the first notes out of the bottle and the ones that set the tone. Patchouli, oakmoss, birch, and ambergris carry the middle of the composition, picking up the smoke and depth that Aventus is known for while pulling the florals into something more textured.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes belong to pineapple and bergamot, loud and almost fizzy, like biting into cold fruit in a warm room. Blackcurrant sneaks in underneath, adding a green sharpness that keeps the sweetness honest. Around the 30-minute mark, the neroli and jasmine settle in, softening the fruit into something more floral, more grown. The orris root gives it a powdery coolness, like a clean shirt on warm skin. By hour two, birch and patchouli take over, and the scent shifts from bright to grounded. The smoke is subtle, not bonfire, more like wood shavings in a workshop. From hour four onward, it's all sandalwood, cedar, ambergris, and a quiet vanilla. The drydown is warm, a little sweet, and surprisingly intimate for something that opened so loud.
Cultural impact
For wearers who know both source fragrances, it's a fun exercise in recognition. For those who don't, it's simply a well-built fruity chypre with a smoky backbone and a floral heart. The appeal is the range. It's bold enough for evening, versatile enough for daytime, and complex enough to keep nose-trained friends guessing. The pineapple-led opening commands attention without overwhelming, and the neroli and orris at the heart give it a softness that keeps it from reading as one-note. The birch and patchouli in the middle add structure, and the sandalwood and cedar drydown gives it a warm, woody finish that lingers.
