The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Poseidon's Elixir Remixed MOD 3 arrived in 2020 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. The formula sits in the fruity chypré category, anchored by the pineapple-smoke-blueprint that defines its inspiration, a composition long discussed among scent enthusiasts. Perfumer Mahsam Raza engineered this version, building bright tropical fruit up top while smoky birch and earthy patchouli anchor the structure underneath, all wrapped in a woody-amber-musky signature. The composition reads as a study in deliberate contrast: the juicy, almost candied sweetness of pineapple set against the leathery dryness of birch tar, with patchouli threading through the middle like dark soil between fruit trees.
What makes MOD 3 work structurally is the deliberate collision between fruit and smoke. Pineapple, blackcurrant, and apple deliver a sugary brightness that could read juvenile on its own. But birch pulls the composition into something tougher, drier, and more mineral, while oakmoss in the base keeps everything grounded in earthy chypré territory. The ambergris and ambroxan add that modern, skin-hugging warmth that keeps the sweetness from going flat. It's a careful balance of brightness and depth, where the tropical opening never fully surrenders to the darker base.
The evolution
The opening is loud. Bergamot and pineapple crack open with that sharp, almost green-skin fruit energy, followed fast by blackcurrant leaf and pink pepper for a tart, peppery bite. Juniper adds a gin-and-tonic dryness underneath. As the minutes pass, the smoke starts showing up. Birch and jasmine take over, and the fruit begins to caramelize, losing its sharp edge and turning warmer. Eventually, you settle into oakmoss and patchouli territory, with vanilla softening the whole composition. The ambergris and musk settle in close, and the pineapple becomes a memory rather than a statement, still present as a sweetness underneath the smoke. Later on, what remains is the quieter architecture: the oakmoss drying down to something green and slightly bitter, the vanilla warming into a creamy skin-scent, and the patchouli leaving a faint earthy hum on fabric.
Cultural impact
Poseidon's Elixir Remixed MOD 3 generates real conversation among fragrance enthusiasts. The pineapple reads differently here: less sharp, more rounded, and sweeter in a way that softens the smoky edges of the birch. It's the kind of scent that divides opinion, with some wearers praising its balance and others finding the fruit-smoke tension unresolved. The composition draws attention in enthusiast spaces precisely because it engages with a well-known scent architecture while making distinct choices about proportion and sweetness. For wearers, it functions as both a recognizable riff and something with enough deviation to stand on its own.
