The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Green Mineral arrived as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, the house's running series of reconstructions built around luxury olfactive themes. Green Mineral takes aim at the Armani Privé Vert Malachite line: a green, mineral-floral composition. The opening hits with a green, almost metallic snap from the bitter orange and petitgrain, while the ylang-ylang portion arrives creamy and slightly waxy in its sweetness, built around the banana-skin-and-clove facet the flower is known for. Pink pepper runs through both the green top notes and the floral heart, never loud but enough to keep the composition from turning soft. The base keeps things close to the skin.
What makes the composition worth a second look is the restraint. Rather than overloading with citrus, the opening pairs bitter orange and petitgrain with pink pepper. The heart then stacks jasmine sambac against ylang-ylang, a pairing that can read tropical and heavy in lesser hands. The jasmine sambac and ylang-ylang arrive together, creamy and sun-warmed, with the lily adding a clean white-floral sheen. The base does not try to compete. Benzoin and vanilla close it out in a finish that lets the florals carry the whole way through.
The evolution
First spray and the fragrance reads almost like a Petitgrain-and-orange eau de Cologne, deceptively simple. There is a green, almost metallic edge to it that the brand leans into: the opening does not announce itself so much as arrive, a clean wash of citrus and stemmy bitter orange. It does not fade quickly. The ylang-ylang pushes forward, carrying jasmine sambac with it, and the composition pivots from green-fresh to creamy-floral without warning. Pink pepper runs through both phases, never loud, just enough to keep things from going soft. Eventually the jasmine has settled and the ylang is the dominant voice, that warm, banana-skin sweetness now fully in charge. The base, vanilla and benzoin, takes more time to fully emerge. When it does, the fragrance becomes quieter and warmer, a close-skin amber that reads almost gourmand without ever crossing into pastry territory.
Cultural impact
Green Mineral sits within The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, the house's running series of reconstructions built around luxury olfactive themes. Green Mineral is a dupe for Armani Privé's Vert Malachite, a green, mineral-floral composition.
