The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
There's a moment in the official copy, poolside, convertible parked, jasmine shrubs swaying in a brisk breeze, strawberry mojitos optional. The Dua Brand framed Flagship III as an olfactory vacation, not a vacation from smell but a vacation into it. Released in 2021, the fragrance carries the easy confidence of a composition built for warm afternoons and open skies. The scent reads like summer distilled down to a single hour, grapefruit and rhubarb snapping cold, suede warming in the sun, the breeze carrying everything forward. Nothing about it shouts for attention. The opening fruit notes hit quick and clean, the kind of tartness that wakes up the senses without overwhelming them.
What's unusual about Flagship III is how cleanly the aromatics sit on top of the suede. The tart rhubarb and pink pepper get equal billing with the base, neither one ceding ground to the other. Juniper bridges the two halves, sharp enough to read clean at the opening, resinous enough to anchor the drydown. The suede material isn't a dominant bass note playing underneath, it's the second protagonist, waiting its turn. Juniper adds a green, bracing edge at the top, almost piney, almost herbal, threading the fruit notes to the woods without any obvious seam.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes belong to grapefruit and rhubarb, sharp, almost sour, like biting a stalk that's been in the fridge. Pink pepper adds a buzz underneath, something you feel more than smell. Neroli softens the edges, a floral bitterness that keeps the citrus from going candy-sweet. Juniper sits at the edges, green and bracing. As the wear continues, the whole thing shifts into a new register. Suede arrives, not as a leather punch but as a soft, matte texture, like touching a warm steering wheel. Jasmine threads in faintly, never enough to make it a floral fragrance. Blond woods and cedar settle the base. The grapefruit ghost hangs around longer than you'd expect, bright citrus surprise showing up unexpectedly even after the fruit has officially faded from the composition. As the wear keeps going, most of what's left is a skin-warm wood note, intimate and slightly powdery.
Cultural impact
Flagship III sits comfortably in the summer-citrus-aromatic niche. What it offers is a dual-architecture approach. Citrus dominates the opening rather than fading into a generic aquatic, and the suede base gives it enough texture to feel like a complete fragrance. Wearers gravitate toward it for warm-weather casual settings: weekend lunches, afternoon drives, days that start without a plan. The grapefruit-rhubarb top is assertive enough to read through summer heat without disappearing into the humidity, and the suede drydown holds up well in warm air rather than turning cloying.
