The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Auric Blanc arrived in 2025 from The Dua Brand's Dua Designer Line, a collection that explores how bright, crystalline notes can be balanced against deeper, earthier foundations. The fragrance positions itself inside the floral-aldehyde category, where aldehydes contribute their characteristic soapy-delicate lift and white-floral hearts dominate the composition. Yet Raza's approach pulls the structure toward earthy weight with patchouli and vetiver anchoring the base, giving the bright top a grounded place to land. The opening crackles with that distinctive aldehyde sparkle, sharp and effervescent, before settling into a creamy floral heart that feels softened by ylang-ylang's buttery sweetness.
What sets this apart is the use of Mahonial, a jasmine-related molecule that adds a luminous, airy dimension to the heart without tipping into indolic territory. Paired with ylang-ylang, it forms a creamy-sweet core that feels less like a bouquet and more like light filtered through cream. The aldehyde-led opening gets rebalanced by these choices, and the pink pepper adds a fleeting, almost effervescent spice that punctuates the brightness.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are sharp and high, the aldehydes buzzing against lemon zest and that brief pink-pepper flicker, almost like the scent of carbonation hitting your nose. Then it breathes down into jasmine and ylang-ylang over the Mahonial, the florals gaining a creamy weight as the aldehyde sparkle softens into something more like warm glass. By the two-hour mark the white musk starts to murmur, and the vetiver and patchouli settle in underneath, grounding everything. What remains past hour four is a soft, earthy musk close, the brightness long gone, the white florals a memory. It doesn't shout its final act, but it's still there when you lift your wrist the next morning, a quiet trail of warm skin and green root.
Cultural impact
Auric Blanc by The Dua Brand belongs to a category that prizes clarity and brightness over sheer force, aldehyde-driven compositions that emphasize soapy, polished character. Aldehydes, lemon, and pink pepper give this release a crisp, tailored energy, the kind of scent that reads as composed and intentional. The opening hits with that distinctive aldehyde lift, sharp and clean, almost like the olfactory equivalent of a starched collar. As it settles, the white florals emerge, ylang-ylang lending its creamy sweetness while Mahonial keeps the heart from becoming too dense or indolic.
