The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Whisked Away is a 2025 gourmand fragrance built around Cam the Cat, a Squishmallows character whose whole personality lives in softness and sweetness. The scent was developed by DSM-Firmenich, one of the largest fragrance houses in the world, working through Blue Meadow Brands, the incubator run by industry veteran Joel Ronkin. Squishmallows, a plush brand under Jazwares, partnered with Blue Meadow to translate the characters its fans already loved into something wearable. Whisked Away draws directly from the comfort of that plush universe, the squishy, huggable energy that made the toys a phenomenon, bottled into an eau de parfum for the adult collector who never quite let go of the soft things. The composition reads like a love letter to dessert: caramel, milk, cinnamon, white peach, and a marshmallow drydown that refuses to quit. It is sweet on purpose, unapologetically so.
What makes this composition work is the balance between edible warmth and floral lift. Caramel and milk anchor the opening, but cinnamon keeps it from going flat, the way a dusting on top of a latte adds structure. In the heart, freesia and white peach do the quiet work of keeping the sweetness from collapsing into syrup. Tiger orchid is an unusual choice, a creamy, almost tropical floral that bridges the dessert opening to the plush base. The drydown does what gourmand fans actually want: marshmallow and vanilla latte macchiato, layered over sandalwood for warmth that holds. This is a scent that knows its lane and drives straight down it.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are warm and immediate. Caramel hits first, sticky and golden, with milk softening the edges so it never reads as burnt sugar. Cinnamon arrives within seconds, the dry, sweet kind you'd find on a cappuccino, not the red-hot candy variety. The opening has weight to it, a deliberate, milky sweetness that announces itself without shouting. After about 30 minutes, the florals start to surface. Freesia brings a clean, slightly green brightness that lifts the whole composition off the ground. Tiger orchid adds a creamy, almost-narcotic softness, and white peach rounds it out with a fuzzy fruit sweetness. This is the phase where the scent stops being purely dessert and becomes something more dimensional. Past the two-hour mark, the base takes over. Marshmallow is the star, a powdery, airy sweetness that smells exactly like the plush toy it's named after. Sandalwood underneath gives it skin-warmth and staying power. Vanilla latte macchiato shows up in the late drydown, a foamy, milky sweetness that lingers for hours.
Cultural impact
Whisked Away arrived at a moment when gourmand fragrances were enjoying a genuine resurgence, but it did something different by leaning all the way in. Most modern gourmands flirt with the genre, adding a touch of vanilla or caramel to an otherwise traditional composition. This one commits fully, the way a dessert wine commits fully. It found its audience among collectors and younger wearers who treat fragrance as an extension of personal nostalgia rather than a projection tool. The Squishmallows connection gave it a built-in fanbase: people who already loved Cam the Cat now had a way to wear that softness. It launched exclusively at Ulta, which positioned it as accessible rather than aspirational, closer to a comfort object than a status marker.
