The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sicili Fragances creates fragrances inspired by the tastes of Sicily: limoncello, pistachio, the hazelnut richness of Nutella. Higo Divino translates another Sicilian obsession: the fig. Not the dried fruit in Christmas cakes, but the ripe, split-open fig from an orchard at golden hour. Perfumer Mauricio Cerizza built the composition around that moment, when the day's heat makes the fruit sweat and the sweetness deepens. Pink pepper and fig open together, creating an aroma that is simultaneously juicy and sophisticated. The iris heart arrives quietly, almost shyly, before the base of vetiver and sandalwood grounds everything into something that lingers.
The fig in Higo Divino is a tricky material. On its own, it can read as lactonic, close to coconut or even breast milk, which makes it polarizing. The pink pepper here isn't decorative; it's doing structural work, adding a sharp, almost citrus-like spark that prevents the fig from becoming too soft. The iris in the heart is similarly strategic. Rather than a bold, purple-powder iris that announces itself, this version is restrained, more the idea of iris than its loudest expression. The vetiver and sandalwood base completes the composition with earthy warmth rather than dramatic projection, making this a fragrance that stays close to the skin and rewards the wearer more than the room.
The evolution
The opening announces itself quickly, pink pepper's bright, almost citrusy spark cutting through the creamy sweetness of ripe fig. The combination creates an immediate impression before the fig's lactonic quality begins to dominate, introducing an aromatic, almost green undertone. The transition to the heart is gradual. The iris doesn't arrive so much as gradually replace the fig's sweetness with its powdery, slightly floral elegance. This is where Higo Divino shifts from fruity to sophisticated, the fragrance that was once juicy becomes something you lean in to appreciate. In the drydown, vetiver and sandalwood take over. The vetiver provides earthy, slightly smoky depth while the sandalwood softens everything into a creamy, warm finish that stays intimate and close to the skin.
Cultural impact
Higo Divino arrives as a 2024 release from Sicili Fragances, a relatively young house known for playful food-inspired compositions. The fragrance offers something different from the obvious flavor hooks of releases like Crepe alla Nutella, Limoncello Divino, Mint and Tonic. Instead of a direct culinary reference, it delivers a sensory mood: Mediterranean evening, intimate and quiet. The restraint in its construction means it does not demand attention but instead rewards those who lean in, discovering the quiet sophistication beneath the surface.
