The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Luna arrived in 2025 as part of Riiffs' R series, a duo of feminine gourmands built around the idea of moonlight translated into scent. Each release reads as something deliberately composed, and Luna's character is the one that happens after sundown: quiet, creamy, a little charged. The opening of coconut milk and ozone stretches the room like a window thrown open to humid night air, setting up a composition that wants to feel like skin catching candlelight rather than a perfume announcing itself. There's a softness here that doesn't ask to be noticed, a milky whisper that sits just below the hush of conversation.
The unusual move here is the ozonic top. Coconut-centered fragrances tend to skew warm, heavy, tropically coded. Luna cuts that with a cool, almost metallic airiness that pushes the coconut toward milk rather than beach. The result is a white floral heart, gardenia and jasmine, given somewhere to breathe that isn't tropical sweetness. There's a waxy richness in the petals, almost like crushed tuberose pressed into warm skin, but the ozone keeps the whole thing lifted and slightly chilled. The incense in the middle adds a wisp of smoke to the cream, so the fragrance never reads as just edible.
The evolution
Coconut and milk arrive soft and sweet at the opening, but the ozonic notes pull the temperature down, almost like stepping out of a warm room into cool air. There's a metallic shimmer underneath, the kind that makes white florals feel like they're being lit from behind. As the composition settles, the gardenia and jasmine take fuller shape. They smell plush, almost waxy, like petals pressed into warm skin. The incense doesn't roar here; it curls around the edges, a faint thread of smoke you notice more than you smell, adding depth without weight. Once the florals begin to recede, the base starts to build underneath them. Musk arrives first, giving the composition a clean, almost-lotion warmth, then vanilla settles underneath, not the buttercream kind but the woody, slightly smoky pod kind.
Cultural impact
Within Riiffs' own portfolio, Luna functions as the quieter counterpart to R Stella, appealing to the wearer who wants softness without obvious dessert notes. The composition leans into coconut milk, gardenia, jasmine, ozone, incense, musk, and vanilla, a combination that pulls toward atmospheric gourmand territory rather than confectionery sweetness. The use of ozone alongside white florals is what sets Luna apart from typical lactonic or creamy fragrances, lending the scent an almost nocturnal quality.
