The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Al Attar Al Thameen draws from a heritage of concentrated perfume oils, taking materials like oud, amber, and musk as its foundation. The house has built a reputation around these rich, layered notes, and this release adapts that tradition into an EDP format. The goal was to take those defining materials and build something that speaks across formats, creating a fragrance with the depth of traditional attars while fitting into a modern delivery system. The result carries the weight and complexity of its source materials while maintaining accessibility.
The structure tells you everything. Bergamot opens with a quick, bright cut before the florals arrive. Jasmine, orange blossom, Bulgarian rose, violet, they don't compete with each other. They layer. Violet's powdery quality keeps the sweetness from tipping into heaviness. Then the base arrives and the oud takes over, supported by amber warmth and a musk that stays close. The oud is the point. Everything else is setup.
The evolution
The opening is bergamot, bright and sharp, a citrus spark before the sweetness arrives. Jasmine and orange blossom arrive together, Bulgarian rose and violet filling in the gaps. The white florals bloom and fill the space with a lush, layered presence. There's a powdery softness here from the violet that keeps the richness from overwhelming. Then the handoff. Oud, musk, amber. The florals don't disappear, they recede, becoming texture beneath the oud's depth. The amber and musk add warmth without sweetness. This is where the fragrance earns its name. The drydown settles close and intimate rather than projecting outward, wrapping the wearer in its base notes.
Cultural impact
Rasasi has been a presence in Arabian perfumery. Al Attar Al Thameen represents their approach to blending traditional oud craftsmanship with contemporary florals. The fragrance appeals to those who appreciate oriental-floral compositions that honor perfumery heritage while offering modern sensibility. Its combination of deep oud and balanced florals creates something that feels rooted in tradition yet current in its execution. The fragrance speaks to a wide audience by taking classic materials and presenting them in an accessible way.
