The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
This is not a fragrance that shouts. It breathes. Created by perfumer Quentin Bisch and released by Plume Impression in 2019, the composition centers on fig and cypress, two materials that rarely share a bottle. The brand's own copy describes morning mist lifting from sun-warmed stone, fig trees releasing their scent as the coast warms, laughter drifting from somewhere out of frame. That scene is the brief. Bisch translated it into something that feels like standing at the edge of a garden just after dawn, still cool, already fragrant, waiting for the heat to arrive. The fig note arrives green and slightly lactonic, more leaf than fruit, while the cypress adds a dry, aromatic quality that keeps the opening crisp rather than sweet.
What makes this work is the davana. That herb-floral note bridges the gap between cypress's sharp green and the fig nectar's creamy sweetness, it keeps the opening from reading like a cleaning product while stopping the fig from sliding into dessert territory. The heart layers fig nectar with freesia, a combination that creates a translucent floral layer that makes the fig read creamy rather than sweet. No one note dominates. The composition earns its restraint. The warm, enveloping quality of the drydown invites closeness without announcing itself.
The evolution
The opening arrives green and aromatic, davana's herbal brightness cutting through cypress's clarity. For the first portion of wear, it's all crisp air and fresh foliage. Then the fig nectar softens everything. The heart doesn't burst open so much as settle in, freesia adding a translucent floral layer that makes the fig read creamy rather than sweet. The drydown is where sandalwood and tonka bean do their work, the woodiness warming up while the tonka adds a quiet sweetness that never quite lets go. Cedar keeps the base dry, stopping the composition from sliding into something too soft. The sillage stays intimate, present for those close to you, invisible to everyone else.
Cultural impact
Among fig-forward fragrances, Murmure d'Été occupies a particular space. Reviewers describe it as creamy fig with natural sweetness, intimate sillage, and a sophisticated tonka-sandalwood drydown. The scent appeals to those who want the fig experience without the performance, a quiet alternative in a category that can lean heavy.
