The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Part of the Les Contes Bucologiques collection launched in spring 2010, Brume de Jasmin was dedicated to the flower of jasmine. The collection, whose name evokes pastoral stories and rural landscapes, draws inspiration from the countryside and its simple beauty. The fragrance treats its namesake flower with restraint, letting it unfold slowly rather than demand attention. Apple and lotus were chosen to frame the jasmine, creating a fresh, dewy opening that sets the tone for the entire composition. The pairing creates an immediate impression of brightness tempered by calm, a balance that feels natural and unforced.
The real surprise in Brume de Jasmin is the leather. It brings a quiet presence, a hint of warmth that keeps the florals from becoming too sweet or one-dimensional. The leather becomes more pronounced as the fragrance develops, giving the fragrance an unexpected edge that rewards those who wear it through the full drydown. Vanilla and amber then round everything out, warm and enveloping, wrapping the jasmine in a soft glow that lingers close to the skin.
The evolution
The opening is all about contrast: apple's bright sweetness against lotus's cool, aquatic stillness. Within minutes the jasmine arrives, not the heady, indolic type that can overwhelm, but something softer, almost translucent. The magnolia smooths the transition between fruit and flower, keeping everything cohesive. The leather begins to emerge gradually, like a shadow at the edge of the brightness. The drydown is where Brume de Jasmin earns its keep. The jasmine remains, but now it's wrapped in amber warmth and grounded by vanilla. The leather lingers in the background, adding texture without weight. This phase holds for several hours, intimate and close, the kind of presence you notice when someone leans in.
Cultural impact
Brume de Jasmin offers an approachable alternative to heavier jasmine expressions. Its inclusion of leather in a floral-forward composition sets it apart from typical white floral fare, appealing to wearers who want tenderness with a hint of edge. The fragrance has become a quiet favorite among those who prefer their jasmine gentle and non-indolic.
