The beginning
Sun Eau Délicieuse Parfumante arrived in 2016 as Nuxe's love letter to the kind of summer that doesn't end when the calendar says it should. Serge Majoullier composed the scent with the Sun range's golden-hour fantasy in mind, that sun-soaked visual vocabulary the brand has built around skincare that smells like vacation. The bottle itself carries the brief: a sunset-colored vessel that catches the light like a long, late afternoon. The composition pulls straight from the visual. Petitgrain and sweet orange bring the bright, just-bitten citrus at the top, the kind of zest that feels pulled from the tree rather than the bottle.
What makes this composition interesting isn't the luxury of rare materials. It's the discipline of restraint. Majoullier works with a tiny pyramid, six notes total, and each one does heavy lifting. The tiare, that Polynesian gardenia long associated with monoi oil and sun care traditions, sits at the heart, lactonic and creamy without going gourmand. Coconut reinforces it but doesn't smother, providing a soft, sweet ballast that keeps the floral from feeling too delicate or soapy.
The evolution
The opening is deceptive. Petitgrain does most of the talking, green and slightly bitter, with sweet orange curling underneath like zest squeezed over sliced fruit. There's a brightness here that reads almost clean and herbal, and you might briefly wonder if you've misjudged the bottle. Then the tiare arrives, and the whole thing pivots. The coconut blooms into the composition, and the fragrance crosses from cologne territory into something warmer, creamier, more intimate. The lactonic quality dominates the heart of the wear, sweet and milky without ever tipping into pastry territory. Vanilla starts threading through, soft and ambered, while white musk begins to settle underneath, creating a base that feels lived-in from the start. As the hours pass, the citrus fades into memory. What remains is this warm, sweet, slightly tropical skin scent, vanilla-forward but never gourmand.
