The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ajwaa Murakaz Concentrated Red arrived in 2021 from Nusuk. The Ajwaa line appears within Nusuk's catalogue, and the Concentrated Red edition is its floral-fruity expression. Where some fragrance houses default to dense, smoky profiles, this one goes sweeter, brighter, and more immediately wearable. The intent reads as accessibility without dilution. It still carries enough presence to register on skin, but the entry point is a bowl of ripe fruit and a bouquet of white flowers rather than smoke and resin. The opening bursts with a juicy, almost candied quality. Blackcurrant lends a tart edge, pear softens it with honeyed sweetness, and rhubarb adds a green, slightly sour thread that keeps the fruit from collapsing into syrup. From there, the florals arrive in a soft wave.
What's interesting here is the structural choice. Nusuk built a composition that leads with fruit (blackcurrant, pear, rhubarb) but anchors the drydown in hazelnut, sandalwood, and generic woody notes. That hazelnut is the unsung element. It gives the base a creamy, almost praline-like warmth that bridges the gap between the juicy opening and the woody finish. The transition is remarkably smooth. As the fruit fades, the hazelnut takes on a toasted quality, almost like the browned edge of a baked good cooling on a rack.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are loud fruit. Blackcurrant and pear hit front and center, with rhubarb adding a tart, slightly green edge that keeps the sweetness from going cloying. It smells like a fruit bowl left on a sunlit counter, overripe in the best way. Around the 30-minute mark, the white florals start pushing through. Tuberose brings a creamy density, orange blossom adds a bright, almost soapy lift, and rose threads everything together with its familiar warmth. The fruit doesn't vanish. It recedes, but it doesn't disappear. By the 2-hour mark, the composition has shifted firmly into its base. Sandalwood and woody notes take over, and the hazelnut starts doing its work, lending a creamy, toasted quality that softens the woods. The florals linger as a ghost, a faint sweetness in the background. At 6 hours, it's mostly a close-to-skin blend of warm sandalwood and that nutty, almost edible base. On clothing the next morning, the hazelnut and woods are still faintly present, a warm trace of the day before.
Cultural impact
Ajwaa Murakaz Concentrated Red arrived in 2021, joining a wave of fruity-floral releases designed to appeal to a broad, contemporary audience. The composition leans on a creamy, fruit-forward template that manages to feel both modern and rooted in familiar perfumery traditions. The toasted hazelnut accord is one of the most distinctive elements here, lending a warmth that softens the juicy opening and gives the fragrance a recognisable signature.
