The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Arabian Cherry arrived in 2025 as part of Marc Gebauer's orient-fruity repertoire. The name is deliberate: not just cherry, but Arabian Cherry, elevating the fruit beyond the ordinary. The composition blends the immediate appeal of ripe cherry with the depth of oud. The challenge was clear: make fruit and wood coexist without one overwhelming the other. Cristian Calabrò approached the formula with this balance in mind, crafting a scent that moves from bright opening to darker depths. The result is a fragrance that acknowledges both traditions while charting its own course.
The composition hinges on careful staging. Cherry doesn't arrive alone; it's joined by Damask rose and raspberry, which give the fruit a cooler, slightly tart counterpoint. The rose tempers the cherry's sweetness, keeping it from becoming jammy. The raspberry adds brightness at the edges. In the heart, oud provides richness that grounds the fragrance. Sandalwood and saffron warm the middle ground, enriching the overall complexity. The base combines guaiac wood, ambergris, oakmoss, and animalic musk, creating a resinous, slightly dirty foundation that lingers on the skin.
The evolution
The opening hits fast, cherry and raspberry bright against the skin, the rose doing quiet work underneath. The fruit gradually evolves as the composition develops, allowing saffron to arrive with its leathery, slightly bitter warmth. The oud unfolds in its own time, revealing itself as the top notes settle. As the hours pass, the woody and animalic elements create a warm, resinous trail that those nearby will notice. The drydown on fabric differs from skin application: longer and heavier, with guaiac wood and ambergris taking center stage. Performance varies based on individual chemistry, with the fragrance showing notable longevity on most skin types and even greater persistence on fabric.
Cultural impact
Arabian Cherry has positioned itself within the orient-fruity category since its 2025 debut. The fragrance appeals to collectors seeking something with warmth and sensuality. The oud-animalic drydown distinguishes it from lighter niche releases, drawing those who appreciate depth and complexity. It speaks to the wearer who wants a statement piece in their collection, something that announces presence without apology.
