The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
LoveShackFancy, founded in New York in 2013, turns vintage romance into modern scents that feel like love letters in pastel bottles. In 2023, the brand called on perfumer Yves Cassar of IFF to capture a moment of pastel romance in a bottle. Drawing from the brand love-letter ethos, Cassar blended bright fruit with romantic florals and a warm, creamy base to create Boheme, a fragrance that speaks softly but clearly.
The note structure prioritizes approachability without sacrificing depth. Blackcurrant and pink apple catch attention, the floral heart maintains interest, and the sandalwood-tuberose base ensures a finish worth lingering on. This layering strategy makes Boheme work across casual and romantic occasions, with the white amber providing a soft versatility that suits everyday wear.
The evolution
The fragrance opens on blackcurrant and pink apple, a duo that immediately signals playfulness. The blackcurrant provides a tart berry bite while the pink apple keeps the opening light and approachable. As the top notes fade, jasmine and peony emerge, adding depth with their powdery, soft floral character. Rose joins to complete the heart, offering a classic romantic anchor. By the drydown, sandalwood and tuberose take over, introducing warmth and a creamy, slightly heady quality. White amber softens the base, leaving a gentle warmth on the skin that feels intimate rather than loud.
Cultural impact
Since its 2023 debut, Boheme has sparked conversation among fragrance lovers. Some praise its sweet, garden‑like aura and the comforting amber finish, while others note its similarity to Gucci Bloom and describe the opening as a bit too sugary. The scent has found a niche among those who enjoy a romantic, pastel‑soft perfume for everyday wear.
