When Jacques Cavallier Belletrud returned Louis Vuitton to perfumery in 2016, he brought the iris with him. Spell On You was his declaration, a study in powdery florals stripped to their most essential form. For 2025, the fragrance gets a second act: a limited collector's edition dressed in Takashi Murakami's cherry blossoms. The bottle changes. The scent stays.
What makes Spell On You V.2 interesting is the iris structure. Rather than an iris that announces itself at the opening, here it operates as a foundation, a powdery, slightly earthy substrate that runs through the entire composition. The doubled iris (Tuscan in both top and heart) creates a continuous through-line instead of the typical note-by-note reveal. Rose adds romantic tartness.
