The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
LINK introduced Likee in 2022, and the name does quiet work. It reads less as a product title than as a call to lean in rather than stand back. The house rarely leans on splashy marketing copy, and Likee stays true to that instinct. The fragrance is meant to speak through what it does on skin, letting the composition do the flirting. Released into a wider catalogue that still favors woody and amber territory, Likee sat as one of the gentler, more accessible offerings, the kind of composition a new wearer could try before wandering deeper into the house. The composition rests on fruit and floral softness, anchored by a musk that pulls close to the skin as the hours pass.
What separates Likee from a typical fruity-floral template is the way the fruit and spice are handled. Lychee rarely shows up in contemporary perfumery, and here it's tempered by nutmeg's grounded warmth and bergamot's clean snap, giving the opening a poised, almost editorial quality. There's no syrup, no candied weight. The lychee reads fresh and slightly cool, the kind of fruit note that suggests the moment of cutting it open rather than eating it. The rose-peony pairing in the heart leans the classical tradition without leaning old-fashioned.
The evolution
The first minutes belong to the top. Bergamot arrives bright and cold, the way cold can feel on the back of your neck. Lychee rolls in underneath, juicy and slightly translucent, and nutmeg threads through both with a dry warmth. It opens with intent. Around the twenty-minute mark, the fruit recedes and the florals take over. Peony opens the door, powdery and slightly aqueous, and rose steps through with that lifted quality. The combination reads fresh, a touch dewy, like petals after a light rain. The nutmeg lingers through this transition, keeping things from drifting too clean. There's a softness here that never collapses into fluff; the spices keep the air honest. By the second hour, the base takes the wheel. Musk arrives soft and skin-like, not white-musk squeaky but something warmer, almost suede-adjacent.
Cultural impact
Likee arrives as one of LINK's gentler compositions, offering a counterpoint to its woody-leaning catalogue. It sits in a different key from the brand's more austere offerings, less carved than draped, more inviting than imposing. For wearers curious about the house but hesitant about its heavier territory, Likee functions as a threshold. The composition reads modern in its restraint, placing it in conversation with contemporary florals from other houses rather than classic perfumery traditions. There's no nostalgia in the blend, no borrowed reference to vintage structures. The rose and peony feel current without trying to be.
