The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lattafa Perfumes, established in the UAE in 1980, has built its reputation on delivering accessible luxury that honors Arabian fragrance traditions. From their Dubai facility, the house has consistently demonstrated that high-quality scents need not carry prohibitive price tags. Asad Bourbon was developed as the third installment in the Asad collection, following the well-received original Asad and the tropical-leaning Asad Zanzibar. The name draws from the Arabic word Asad, meaning lion, suggesting strength and regality, while Bourbon references the rich vanilla that forms the cornerstone of this new composition. The perfumer behind this creation understood that the collection needed a fragrance with warmth and indulgence, selecting cacao and bourbon vanilla to deliver that promise.
The note selection for Asad Bourbon reflects a deliberate philosophy of contrast and harmony. Lavender and mirabelle create an opening that is simultaneously fresh and fruity, establishing approachability before the richer heart emerges. Cacao and nutmeg in the heart provide warmth and spice that appeal to lovers of gourmand fragrances, while davana adds an intriguing complexity that distinguishes this from simpler chocolate scents. The base of bourbon vanilla, amber, and vetiver ensures the fragrance wears beautifully for hours, with the woody-earthy vetiver preventing the sweet vanilla from becoming overwhelming.
The evolution
The opening introduces lavender with characteristic aromatic clarity, immediately setting an herbaceous tone that feels both classic and contemporary. Mirabelle plums arrive with juicy sweetness, followed by pink pepper that adds a refined spice. As time progresses, the heart unfolds with cacao as the dominant presence, bringing rich chocolate warmth that feels gourmand yet sophisticated. Nutmeg contributes gentle spice, while davana adds exotic complexity with its unique fruity-herbal character. The drydown marks the true arrival of the Bourbon promise, with bourbon vanilla delivering deep, sweet creaminess. Amber amplifies the warmth, and vetiver provides an earthy counterweight that ensures longevity and complexity.
Cultural impact
Since its 2025 debut, Asad Bourbon has sparked conversation among fans of modern Arabian gourmand scents. Wearers often compare its sweet‑spicy opening to Azzaro’s Most Wanted (2020) and its creamy vanilla dry‑down to Bad Boy Extreme (2020), noting a familiar yet distinct personality. The fragrance’s strong sillage and long‑lasting gourmand heart have made it a favorite for evening outings, while its approachable price has broadened its appeal beyond niche collectors, cementing its place as a go‑to for those seeking a confident, warm signature.
