The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Glam arrived as the third flanker in Kim Kardashian's eponymous fragrance line, following her original debut and another release in the series. The bottle kept the silhouette of the original Kim Kardashian bottle, same architectural shape, but dressed in a vivid pink that Kardashian called her new obsession at the time of launch. The color choice paired directly with what the juice itself was going for: a fragrance built around sweetness, centered on a watermelon note that reads cold, wet, and almost aquatic in the opening, a deliberate contrast to the warmer floral territory that the heart would eventually settle into.
The composition is a textbook floral-fruity built on a very specific kind of contrast. Watermelon in the opening is doing something tricky: it reads wet, almost aquatic, which gives the top an ozonic lift that prevents the fruit from going flat or syrupy. Then tuberose enters as a full-bodied white floral presence, its weight offset by the airy fruit above it, and rose absolute rounds the heart into a more familiar territory. Star jasmine sits alongside, adding its own floral texture to the arrangement.
The evolution
The first minutes are all fruit and brightness, watermelon giving way to red berries and a generic citrus sparkle that lifts the whole thing skyward. The florals arrive in waves rather than all at once, with tuberose coming in as the dominant white floral, its creamy density giving the heart its shape before jasmine and rose absolute layer in alongside. By the half-hour mark the rose has settled in, and the composition reads warm and full, the fruit mostly gone but its sweetness absorbed into the florals above. As the wear progresses, the base notes take their turn at the wheel. Orris root becomes dominant, giving the scent its powdery character through the later hours, while sandalwood and musk create a soft, close-to-skin base that carries through the remainder of the wear.
Cultural impact
The pink bottle and the watermelon-tuberose pairing made Glam immediately recognizable on a vanity, a fragrance that announces its intentions before you even spray it. The vivid pink packaging aligns with the sweetness of the juice inside, creating a unified presentation where the color and the scent reinforce one another. As a floral-fruity built around watermelon, tuberose, jasmine, and rose, anchored by orris root, sandalwood, and musk, Glam draws on note combinations that became widely familiar in mainstream fragrance during the period of its release.
