Gabriela Chelariu conceived this mist in 2020 with a clear mandate: create a hair-safe fragrance that could hold its own against traditional perfumes. The concept borrowed from that fleeting déjà vu feeling when encountering a familiar bloom in a new context, a white flower that feels simultaneously known and surprising. For the opening, she reached for pear and peach, two fruits that mirror the lightness of morning light on petals. The white florals at the heart were chosen for their emotional resonance, orange blossom and jasmine and tuberose arranged to trigger that specific memory of a flower you swear you have smelled before. Kayali has built its identity around inclusive luxury, and this scent carries that philosophy forward by refusing to compromise on complexity just because the medium is a hair mist.
The choice of patchouli and sandalwood for the drydown reflects a deliberate decision to contrast the bright floral heart with something grounded and intimate. Vanilla acts as the bridge, smoothing the transition from the crisp top notes to the earthy base and wrapping everything in a warmth that feels almost personal, like the lingering scent on fabric after ironing.
