The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The 5th anniversary of Jousset Parfums brings a limited edition inspired by the now-iconic Dubai chocolate bar, with its shredded dough and pistachio filling encased in milk chocolate. This fragrance captures the essence of that confection, translating the layered texture of the bar into olfactory form. The composition opens with an immediate richness, the kind that suggests something sweet and nutty is already present on the skin. As the scent develops, it maintains a warmth that feels enveloping rather than fleeting, honoring the celebratory nature of this release. The aim here is sensory authenticity, capturing what makes that chocolate bar so distinctive without relying on metaphor or abstraction.
The composition hinges on a single cunning move, two different expressions of pistachio, placed at opposite ends of the pyramid. At the top: the cold, clean spread of pistachio cream, lifted by buttery brioche. At the base: the concentrated sweetness of pistachio ice cream returning after everything else settles. Between them, knafeh's shredded texture, marzipan's warmth, and a honey note thick enough to drizzle. The milk chocolate doesn't compete, it holds the whole thing together, the way the best desserts do.
The evolution
The opening arrives cold. Not cool, not fresh, cold. The pistachio note asserts itself immediately, carrying a creamy richness that feels substantial on first impression. Beneath it, the brioche element provides a soft, bready foundation that prevents the composition from becoming too austere or clinical. As the fragrance develops, a warmth begins to emerge, building gradually through the heart. Marzipan arrives to introduce an almond dimension that anchors the composition and prevents any sense of flattening. The milk chocolate and pistachio interplay continues throughout the heart phase, each note gaining presence at different moments as the composition deepens. By the time the drydown arrives, the fragrance settles into the skin rather than projecting outward.
Cultural impact
Dubai chocolate bars created a significant cultural moment, drawing attention to the possibilities of Middle Eastern pastry traditions in contemporary confectionery. The aesthetic of that cultural moment, with its honey-soaked textures and layered nuttiness, informed the development of this fragrance. Jousset Parfums released this limited edition as part of their 5th anniversary celebration, positioning it as a wearable interpretation of that edible luxury experience.
