The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Pride arrived in 2024 from Hemel Paris. No named perfumer or fragrance-specific inspiration is documented. Pink pepper, bergamot, and ginger create a lively opening before benzoin, saffron, and rose introduce a softer, spice-edged middle. The listed notes move from citrus brightness into a warmer blend of floral, resinous, and sweet spice. Vanilla and patchouli give the composition a grounded base, while Operanide®, Ambrocenide®, and ambergris round out the drydown with a lightly ambery character. As the brighter notes begin to fade, rose remains noticeable against benzoin and saffron, and the later notes soften the sharper spice with sweetness and woods.
Pink pepper gives the opening a clean sting, while bergamot keeps it lucid. Ginger adds a measured warmth, then rose brings a polished floral edge into the heart. Benzoin and saffron make that center richer and more resinous, with the rose preventing the dry spice from taking over. In the base, vanilla and patchouli temper the spice with sweetness and woods, while Operanide®, Ambrocenide®, and ambergris give it a sleek, lightly ambery finish. As the fragrance wears, the initial citrus quality becomes less pronounced and the rose, benzoin, saffron, and patchouli gain prominence.
The evolution
The listed notes show a clear progression from brightness to warmth. Pink pepper, bergamot, and ginger form the brighter opening before the fragrance settles. Benzoin lays down a resinous warmth, saffron adds a dry spice, and rose introduces a softly gendered floral center. As the fragrance dries, patchouli and vanilla pull the earlier brightness into a warm woody base, while Operanide®, Ambrocenide®, and ambergris contribute a polished, lightly ambery quality. Over time, the citrus facets become less distinct, allowing the rose and spice notes to share the foreground with the softer resinous materials. The composition ends with a blended impression of spice, wood, sweetness, and amber, with the base notes providing continuity as the top notes fade.
Cultural impact
Pride is a 2024 unisex release built around pink pepper, bergamot, ginger, benzoin, saffron, rose, patchouli, and vanilla. Its opening has a contemporary brightness, while the heart introduces floral softness, resinous warmth, and dry spice. Patchouli and vanilla give the composition a rounded base, joined by Operanide®, Ambrocenide®, and ambergris for a lightly ambery finish. The fragrance can be read through its balance of contrasting materials: pepper and citrus against rose and benzoin, saffron against vanilla, and patchouli against the smoother base notes.
