The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Newyork Dream arrived in 2025 from Hamidi, with the name planting a flag in one city while the composition draws from somewhere else entirely: the quiet, layered comfort of an Oriental vanilla structure. It's a familiar dream rendered through bergamot, cinnamon, and lavender, then grounded with amber and vanilla. The opening citrus and spice give way to an aromatic lavender heart, and from there the scent settles into its warm, resinous base with a softness that feels intentional rather than accidental. The blend leans into restraint, and that choice shows up in how the notes interact: nothing overpowers, nothing shouts. The vanilla carries a creamy sweetness that doesn't tip into syrupy, and the amber underneath it adds a golden, almost honeyed warmth that gives the base its weight.
What makes the structure work is the tension between the fruit-and-spice top and the calm lavender heart. Apple and bergamot bring brightness and snap to the opening, with the apple adding a subtle, rounded sweetness underneath the citrus's sharper edges. Cinnamon threads through with a dry warmth that reads as autumnal baking rather than aggressive spice, its sweetness muted by the surrounding notes. Lavender in the middle acts as a bridge, pulling the warmth into something cleaner and more aromatic before the amber-vanilla base takes over.
The evolution
The opening is quick and bright. Apple hits first, almost crunchy, with bergamot cutting through it like cold air. Cinnamon threads underneath, warm but not sharp, more like the smell of something baking than something burning. The composition reads as a spiced-fruit accord, lively and slightly festive, with the citrus sparkle giving the fruit a lifted, almost effervescent quality. As the opening softens, the lavender makes its move. It doesn't announce itself so much as blur the edges of everything that came before, cooling the cinnamon and rounding the apple's sweetness with a herbal, almost floral calm. The middle phase shifts the scent from energetic to composed, and this is where the fragrance feels most like itself, a calm, slightly herbal warmth that sits close to the skin.
Cultural impact
Released in 2025, Newyork Dream brings together notes that span multiple perfumery traditions, blending the warmth of Oriental amber and vanilla with the aromatic clarity of lavender and the bright lift of bergamot. The name evokes one city while the composition draws on a broader, more global set of references, creating a kind of olfactory crossroads. Bergamot and apple give the top a crisp, almost Western brightness, while cinnamon bridges toward the warmer, spiced territory more associated with Eastern perfumery.
