The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Love Note arrived as part of Ghawali's hair mist collection, a format that extends fragrance through hair rather than concentrating it at the pulse points. The Fragrantica entry describes it as "A note, a direct message linking the heart to the pen," positioning the scent as something close and personal. Where much of Gulf perfumery trades in smoke and resin, Love Note goes another direction entirely, settling into a gourmand register built on praline, chocolate, and amber. The effect is less ceremonial and more intimate, the kind of sweetness that feels worn rather than performed.
The composition keeps things tight, with two top notes, one heart note, and three base notes working through a compact pyramid. The praline and chocolate could easily collapse into cloying sweetness on their own, but amber steps in at the midpoint and shifts the weight of the blend. Bourbon vanilla in the base pulls the overall sweetness back toward something woody and edible, steering clear of the candy-shop synthetic territory that haunts so many gourmand releases. Every ingredient seems to know its job, and none of them reach beyond it.
The evolution
Love Note Hair Mist opens on a rush of sugared praline, rich and immediate, followed closely by the darker roundness of chocolate settling into the blend. The amber joins early, introducing a warm resinous undertone that keeps the sweetness from tipping into syrup. Bourbon vanilla threads through the base, lending a creamy, almost custard-like softness that rounds out the drydown. The fragrance settles into a low, milky warmth as the hours pass, the praline fading first while the vanilla and amber hold on longer than expected.
Cultural impact
Within Ghawali's catalog, Love Note earns its place by leaning into sweetness without apology. The praline and chocolate pairing is uncommon in regional fragrance houses, where rose, oud, and musk tend to dominate the conversation, and the result reads as distinct within the brand's own lineup. The hair mist format keeps the sillage soft and the projection gentle, so the gourmand character stays personal rather than overpowering on a crowded train or in a small room. It works as a first step toward the house for someone curious about the brand's fuller EDP releases.
