Why it exists.
The beginning
Sunset Club arrived in 2025 as part of Gant's fragrance line, a women's release composed by Nelly Hachem-Ruiz. The name is the brief: those East Coast evenings when the sky goes amber and the boardwalk settles into a slower rhythm. Gant's brand language has always leaned coastal and collegiate, and this scent translates that into a fruity-floral with a vanilla-musky floor.
Hachem-Ruiz built the composition around a peach-mandarin opening that arrives with sun-warmed softness, then hands off to a bouquet of rose, gardenia, and jasmine that reads creamy rather than green. The base is where the scent earns its staying power: vanilla and patchouli over a clean musk, giving the sweetness a velvety weight without tipping into syrup. Sand in the top notes is an unusual choice, more textural than literal, lending a dry, mineral edge to the fruit before the florals take over.
The evolution
The first ten minutes belong to peach and mandarin, sweet and bright, almost like biting into ripe fruit on a warm afternoon. The sand accord never announces itself outright, but it keeps the opening from feeling like a dessert. There's a juiciness to the top that feels uncomplicated and warm, the kind of sweetness that invites another sniff rather than overwhelming. Around the 30-minute mark the florals arrive, a compressed gardenia-rose-jasmine that reads soft and powdery rather than sharp. The jasmine does most of the talking here, creamy and slightly indolic without crossing into territory. The gardenia adds a creamy, almost soapy softness that rounds out the bouquet, while the rose contributes a subtle velvety edge that keeps the heart from feeling overly sweet.
