The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Trendy arrived in 2024 as part of Faberlic's expanding fragrance portfolio, a scent built around the idea that good fragrance shouldn't demand a luxury budget or a special occasion to feel justified. The perfumer structured Trendy as a progression: bright fruits at the front, white florals in the middle, woody warmth underneath. Not groundbreaking as a concept, but the execution is deliberate. Every layer earns its place rather than floating alongside the others. The top accord opens with an immediate fruit brightness, setting a tone that's inviting and approachable rather than intimidating. As the citrus fades, the white florals step forward, bringing a creaminess that softens the transition.
What makes Trendy interesting isn't any single note, it's the relationship between them. The top fruit accord reads immediately modern: raspberry, lychee, bergamot, and lemon create a bright, effervescent opening that's both juicy and refined. Placing magnolia above patchouli and cashmere wood shifts the gravity downward, pulling the sweetness toward something earthier and more grounded. Cashmere wood deserves special attention here. It sits between sandalwood and a soft synthetic, creamy without being heavy, warm without being cloying.
The evolution
The opening hits quickly, raspberry and lychee arriving together, with bergamot and lemon brightening the edges. For a while, this is fruity sweetness, bright and effervescent. No pretense. Then the citrus begins to fade and the florals take their position. Magnolia emerges first, its creamy white floral character threading through the remaining lychee sweetness. Jasmine arrives underneath, adding depth with a slightly indolic warmth that keeps the heart from reading as purely delicate. Magnolia carries the heart, patient and present, never shouting. The drydown belongs to patchouli and cashmere wood. The patchouli is earthy, slightly bitter, grounding everything that came before. Cashmere wood softens the transition, adding creamy warmth that smooths what could have been harsh.
Cultural impact
Faberlic's recent releases show a brand interested in modern perfumery, featuring contemporary fruity florals, cashmere woods, and approachable compositions. Trendy fits squarely in that lane: modern enough to feel current, grounded enough to wear every day. The fragrance occupies a sweet spot in the market, appealing to those who want something that feels of-the-moment without straying into territory that's too experimental or niche.
