The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The house released Pour Femme in 2010, following the 2008 Starlight edition. Where Starlight aimed for mystery, Pour Femme leaned toward something bolder. The concept centered on wealth, luxury, and extravagance, but executed with the house's characteristic restraint. Aigner didn't want a fragrance that announced itself from across the room. They wanted one that stayed on skin long after the wearer had left it. The name itself is direct: Pour Femme. For women. A statement of intent rather than explanation.
The pyramid follows classical structure, citrus top, floral heart, woody base, but the apricot note in the heart gives it a modern sweetness that prevents convention. The black pepper in the opening creates an immediate tension with the bergamot, a sharp-spicy contrast that clears the air before the rose arrives. Then the patchouli anchors everything. Not overwhelming. Just present. The kind of base that builds slowly into something the wearer becomes known for.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes belong to citrus and pepper. Bergamot cuts bright and clean while black pepper adds a faint heat that tingles at the edges. Within the hour, the mandarin fades and Bulgarian rose takes over, the apricot sweetness arrives with it, softening the pepper's bite. By the third hour, the rose begins to recede and the patchouli asserts itself, dry and earthy, wrapping around cedar and amber. The sillage never reaches beyond intimate. It stays close, breathing against skin. By hour six, only the white musk and a ghost of almond remain, warm, quiet, intimate enough to be noticed only by whoever's standing close.
Cultural impact
A quiet contender in the woody-floral category. Since its 2010 launch, it's built a following among wearers who value consistency over spectacle. The patchouli drydown sets it apart from contemporaries, the kind of base that becomes a signature rather than a moment. Positioned as an accessible alternative to higher-priced heritage houses without sacrificing structure or longevity.
