The beginning
Tigerwood 1991 draws its name from a vintage oud oil aged over thirty years, the kind of material that doesn't exist twice. The Tigerwood series has long been one of Ensar Oud's signature lines, and the 1991 edition refers to a specific batch of aged oud oil that the house held and matured for an extended period. The 2026 parfum release translates that rare material into a composition built around its longevity, treating the oud as the spine rather than the wallpaper. Where the original oil lived in the dense, resinous register of traditional attar formats, the parfum stretches it into something more dimensional, giving each molecule room to flex against skin and atmosphere.
The genius here is in restraint. Rather than burying aged oud under novelty, Ensar let it lead, surrounding it with materials that amplify rather than mask: black tea for bitterness, cocoa and coffee for warmth, tobacco and clove for spice, bourbon vanilla for sweetness that doesn't cloy. Patchouli and oakmoss anchor the base with classic chypre weight. No single note dominates. The whole smells like something older than any of it.
The evolution
The first twenty minutes are leathery and sharp, clove and black pepper cutting through before the oud's full weight arrives. Then the composition deepens into cocoa-and-coffee territory, warm and resinous, with tobacco curling underneath like smoke from a room you can't see into. Around hour three or four, the bois become more prominent, oakmoss and patchouli grounding everything in damp earth. By hour six the oud is fully in charge, and it stays there. The next morning, on a scarf or a collar, you get a ghost of vanilla and musk, barely-there sweetness that survived everything. This is a parfum that earns its concentration.
Cultural impact

Within oud collecting circles, the Tigerwood series has held a specific kind of reverence for years, and any new format that touches that lineage invites immediate scrutiny.
