Shangri-La: Royal Kynam arrived in 2025 as part of Ensar Oud's EO Bespoke collection, a line that signals the house's willingness to push its compositions further. The fragrance builds on a foundation of three oud origins stacked into a layered pyramid: Burmese, Vietnamese, and Sri Lankan, each contributing its own resinous character to the whole. Blue cypress and blue lotus form the cool counterpoint to that dense resinous core, while frangipani, gardenia, and mimosa bring the florals that round the composition into something wearable rather than monolithic. The opening registers camphor loud and clear, that piercing, almost narcotic brightness that defines the first contact with skin. From there the composition opens up gradually.
What makes this composition distinctive isn't the oud count, it's the floral choice. Blue lotus carries a cool facet that shapes the heart's character, giving it a watery lift that reads differently from the creamier white florals nearby.
