Mélange Sultani

What separates this from much of the rose-oud category is the layering of two distinct oud origins. Burmese oud brings the earthy depth that collectors associate with seasoned Southeast Asian agarwood, while Indian oud adds a sharper, more animalic character underneath the floral. Timor sandalwood in the base gives the whole structure a creamy backbone, its smooth wood presence supporting the heavier materials without flattening them. Mandarin orange at the top is a deliberate choice, a burst of brightness to cut through what would otherwise be a dark, serious fragrance.

The evolution

The opening belongs to mandarin, bright and lifted off the skin, registering quickly before the heavier materials settle in. As the citrus recedes, Indian rose and Ta'ifi rose take over, carrying the composition through its most expressive floral phase and keeping the opening from collapsing into weight. The Burmese oud begins to surface as the wear continues, bringing the earthy, resinous depth that defines the overall character. The Timor sandalwood emerges later in the development, offering a creamy warmth that cushions the composition and bridges the rose and oud into a single coherent base. In the final phase, the oud and sandalwood merge into something quiet, woody, and unmistakably Ensar Oud, a close-skin drydown where the brighter top notes have been fully consumed by the base materials.
