The beginning
Fragheads Anonymous arrived in 2025 as part of Ensar Oud's Editions Don Morisco line, and the name is a wink to the obsessive corner of the fragrance internet. The brief reads as a collision: sweet fruit cocktail and black tea up top, oud and civet underneath, tobacco threading it all together. The composition layers two distinct oud origins into the same formula, Papua and Thai, sitting alongside a heart loaded with castoreum, myrrh, nagarmotha, and blue lotus. The opening fruit and tea accord smells almost friendly, a bright cocktail of sweet blackcurrant and warm black tea that suggests something easygoing. That suggestion doesn't last. The oud and animalic notes underneath drag the composition somewhere rawer, and the tobacco weaves through the whole structure like a steady hand.
The top is botanical and buzzy, betel pepper, galbanum, hinoki cypress, blackcurrant, the kind of green brightness you'd expect from a cologne. Galbanum gives it that torn-leaf bitterness, frankincense softens the edges. By the second hour, the mood has shifted entirely. The tobacco deepens, the Thai oud starts talking, and castoreum adds that leathery warmth that smells like a worn saddle or a card game at midnight. Civet is the quiet rebel here, you don't smell it directly, but the whole composition feels dirtier and more alive because of it. Blue lotus and champa flower arrive late, adding a creamy floral undertone that catches the fig and coconut. The drydown settles into tolu balsam, tonka bean, vanilla, and coconut, and that's where it lives well into the next day.
