Why it exists.
The beginning
Eau So Spectacular arrived in 2016 from Dana, a house whose catalogue includes the classic Tabu alongside a varied roster of releases. The brief here leans lighter than that heritage might suggest. Where Tabu sits in heavier, more opulent territory, this composition pulls toward the bright end of the spectrum. Perfumer Nathalie Benareau built the scent around wisteria and peach blossom, a pairing that reads almost spring-like on skin. The result is a citrusy-woody composition with a luminous floral character. The name promises spectacle. The juice delivers something more subtle: a clean, floral-forward blend with just enough warmth underneath to hold its shape across the day.
Blond woods and woodsy notes anchor the base, but lemon leaf leads the top, giving the opening a green, herbal-citric snap. Peach blossom and peach do something unexpected: they round the wisteria's sometimes-sharp edges without making the composition gourmand. The wisteria itself is treated with care here. Rather than disappearing into the floral crowd, it's given room to breathe against woody warmth, which keeps it present without becoming heavy.
The evolution
The opening is almost entirely lemon leaf. Green, sharp, with the herbal sting of crushed stems rather than the bright sweetness of lemon zest. It announces itself without shouting, the kind of opening that makes you curious rather than impressed. As the top notes settle, wisteria and peach blossom come forward, softening the green into something creamier. The wisteria here reads delicate, almost translucent, with a watery sweetness that feels closer to fresh laundry than to a heavy floral bouquet. Peach warms the whole thing up, adding a soft, fuzzy fruit note that sits just below the surface, bridging the floral and the woody. Later in the wear, the florals begin to recede. The blond woods step forward, carrying a soft, warm character that gives the composition its skeleton. The drydown settles into a quiet blend of clean wood and a faint trace of wisteria still clinging to skin.
