The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sandal Intense arrived in 2025 as part of Creation Lamis's Privé collection, a line the house has been building for wearers who want their fragrance to feel considered rather than loud. The composition is anchored in sandalwood, but the story is really about the dialogue around it. Black tea and fig open with a bruised, slightly sweet warmth, the kind of pairing that feels like a kitchen where something is steeping, all soft steam and a hint of tannin. Cardamom adds the kind of dry heat that keeps things awake, a green spice lift cutting through the sweeter opening notes. Then iris and vetiver arrive like a change in weather, pulling the scent earthward with a powdery, cool-edged iris and the slightly bitter green rootiness of vetiver before the sandalwood settles in for the long quiet.
Fig and black tea in a single opening is an unusual pairing, and it's the most interesting choice on the pyramid. The result is an opening that reads simultaneously warm and slightly tannic, like the smell of a kitchen where something is steeping. The fig gives a bruised, jammy sweetness that feels more stewed than fresh, while the black tea lays a dry, slightly smoky veil over the top, almost like the steam rising off a cup that's been left to cool.
The evolution
The first spray is immediate. Fig arrives first, its green-sweet scent sharpened by cardamom's dry snap, and black tea wraps around both like a steeped bag still warm from the pot. That opening is the loudest the fragrance gets, and it doesn't stay there long. Within 15 to 20 minutes, the tea and fig begin to settle, and the composition shifts from bright to grounded as iris and vetiver take the lead. The iris brings a cool, almost suede-like quality, and the vetiver gives the whole thing an earthy mineral weight that makes the earlier sweetness feel like a memory rather than the present. After about an hour, the sandalwood starts to surface from underneath, and the drydown settles into the warm, creamy wood that gives the fragrance its name. Tonka bean adds a soft, almost vanillic sweetness underneath, but it's subtle, more suggestion than statement. The base lasts. On most skin, the sandalwood drydown holds for 4 to 6 hours, sitting close to the body rather than projecting outward.
Cultural impact
Sandal Intense sits within Creation Lamis's Privé line, a collection oriented around heritage ingredients and focused compositions. Wearers tend to reach for it as a transitional layering option, the kind of scent that suits a shift from one season or occasion to another rather than a single bold statement. It holds particular appeal for anyone who likes their sandalwood grounded by something savory and unexpected, the fig-tea pairing offering a bruised sweetness up top that moves into cooler iris and a steady woody base.
