Released in 2026 and composed by Christian Provenzano at CPL Aromas, Kinam represents the kind of focused, material-driven approach that defines the most ambitious niche releases. The fragrance is exclusively available at the Clive Christian Boutique in the Dubai Mall. There is no global distribution, no online ordering, no secondary channel. You go to it, or you don't. That kind of exclusivity isn't a marketing tactic here; it's a structural choice that mirrors the material itself, rare by nature, and not interested in being easy to find.
Kinam reverses the usual logic of how oud gets handled in composition. The opening of davana, nutmeg, and saffron isn't competing with the oud, it's preparing the ground for it. The metallic note in the heart, unusual and polarizing, functions as a bridge between the spicy brightness up top and the deep, resinous base. It cools the saffron, sharpens the osmanthus, and makes the transition into kyara feel less like a separate phase and more like something that was always coming. Provenzano's structure here is a setup, not a statement.
The evolution
The opening minutes belong to saffron and davana, warm, almost boozy, with a fruit-wine edge that sits right on the skin. Nutmeg adds a dusty lift, like cardamom's quieter cousin. Then something strange happens early in the wear: a metallic shimmer enters. Cold, reflective, almost chrome-like. The osmanthus underneath reads apricot and leather, not the sweet floral most people expect. As the heart phase develops, the interplay between the metallic note and the osmanthus deepens, the fruit character of the osmanthus pushing against the cold surface of the metal, creating tension that holds attention. Eventually, the kyara oud surfaces. This isn't loud oud. It's smoke, resin, old wood, the kind that takes its time to open up. Amber wraps around it, and the sandalwood keeps everything creamy enough to wear close.
