The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
New York Secret Gardens is a fragrance that asks what a hidden place smells like. The house has mapped New York's avenues, boroughs, the obvious landmarks. This fragrance turns inward. The name says it plainly: secret gardens, the green pockets tucked behind brownstones, the rooftop terraces that catch morning light before the street does. There's a sense of renewal in the air, a brief window when everything feels possible. The composition draws from that energy, the way the city softens just long enough to remind you what's worth noticing. The fragrance launched in 2025.
The structure is unusual for the house. It opens fruity and green before committing to its florals, a composition that moves from crisp to lush as it develops. The heart is heavy with Grasse rose and star jasmine, two of the most materially demanding ingredients in perfumery, supported by the waxy richness of tuberose. What keeps it grounded is the Florentine iris in the base, a powdery, slightly metallic note that doesn't let the florals float away into abstraction. The amber and musk anchor the whole thing, making sure this stays close to skin long after the initial brightness fades.
The evolution
It opens on a sharp, fruity note, green pear and the tartness of clementine, with a subtle Kir Royal sparkle underneath. The citrus recedes as the florals take over. This is where it earns its name: rose and star jasmine arrive in sequence, the tuberose waiting its turn before arriving as if it was worth waiting for. The drydown takes its time. The amber settles in quietly, merging with the Florentine iris into something powdery and warm. The sillage is strong in the opening hours, then pulls close, a fragrance that fills a room briefly, then becomes a conversation between you and whoever's standing close enough.
Cultural impact
New York Secret Gardens fits comfortably within the house's range. Bond No 9 builds its identity on translating urban geography into scent, neighborhoods, avenues, cultural moments made wearable. This fragrance continues that approach, it's New York without being aggressive about it. The green notes and soft florals offer something for those drawn to the city's quieter corners, the spaces between the noise where something gentler grows.
