The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Far Away Infinity Intense takes the core concept established by the original Far Away fragrance and extends it in a more concentrated direction. Each scent in the Far Away line draws inspiration from somewhere else, whether a resort destination, an imagined escape, or a memory of warmth and sunlight. Far Away Infinity itself arrived with a character that felt straightforward and easy to wear. When Honorine Blanc approached the project, she considered how to amplify the elements that made that original work. The Intense version builds on the same foundation but emphasizes different qualities.
The way this fragrance moves from its opening to its later stages is what gives it character. The citrus in the top notes makes an immediate impression, arriving with confidence and clarity before gradually receding. Jasmine sambac doesn't compete with that brightness but instead offers a contrast, arriving once the citrus begins to settle and continuing to provide presence as the scent evolves. Sandalwood emerges in the base, working alongside the floral elements rather than replacing them, adding warmth that carries the composition through its final hours.
The evolution
The bergamot opens tart and direct, making its presence known immediately. Within a short time, the jasmine sambac begins to soften that initial sharpness, warming it and making it feel rounder without eliminating it. The white floral heart forms the longest portion of the fragrance's development, sitting close to the skin while maintaining creamy depth. Sandalwood enters quietly in the base, layering beneath the floral notes rather than taking over completely. The drydown brings warm wood and a subtle hint of sweetness that stays close and personal. By the final hours, the fragrance settles into something that feels like warmth on the skin rather than a pronounced perfume effect.
Cultural impact
Far Away Infinity Intense arrived in 2022, a period when many fragrance buyers were reconsidering their preferences and how they wanted scent to function in their daily lives. There was a notable shift toward personal, close-to-skin wear, with demand moving away from highly projecting fragrances toward options that offered presence without broadcast. Avon occupies a particular space in that environment, connecting with customers through personal networks and direct conversation rather than algorithmic discovery.
