Nashwa Oud

Ambroxan sits between the woody heart and the resinous base, adding a mineral warmth that keeps the cedarwood and frankincense from feeling too traditional. The vanilla in the base doesn't announce itself upfront, instead it works quietly to round out the composition as it develops. The frankincense appears twice in the pyramid, once in the heart, once in the base, which gives the fragrance a smoky thread that runs through every phase. As the scent develops, the cedarwood provides a dry, aromatic foundation while the frankincense adds depth and complexity.

The evolution

The opening hits fast. Geranium and bergamot arrive crisp, then saffron adds a spicy-leathery facet that cuts through the freshness. That phase lasts maybe 30 minutes before the heart takes over. Cedarwood and ambroxan shift the register, warmer, slightly mineral, with frankincense lending a smoky edge that bridges the gap between the bright top and the deep base. The geranium softens into something rosier as the bergamot fades. Then the oud arrives. It doesn't storm in, it settles, taking over the drydown alongside patchouli and vanilla. The frankincense is still there, threading through. This is where the fragrance earns its name. It lingers close to the skin for hours, smoky and warm, with vanilla keeping the oud from feeling too heavy. Longevity varies by skin chemistry, but most report a full workday before the drydown fades to a skin-close whisper.
