The collaboration that produced 401 È Amatrice emerged from a meeting between Lorenzo Dante Ferro and RIFLESSI, a perfumery house whose work the project acknowledges and builds upon. Launched in 2018, 401 È Amatrice takes its name partly from a quiet echo of the town itself, with the numerical prefix opening up room for a different kind of meaning, one rooted in process and intention rather than literal reference. The brand frames this work in two words: 'come back' or 'rebirth.' That intent pulses through every green, peppery, herbal choice in the bottle, a deliberate gesture toward something that was interrupted and deserves to be remembered.
What makes 401 È Amatrice compositionally unusual is the sheer density of herbal material working in concert. Eighteen listed notes, and the brand states the formula contains 140 selected ingredients. That's not a minimalist statement. That's a herb garden, a citrus grove, and a forest floor pressed into one accord. Basil, thyme, savory, and galbanum handle the green register from four angles. Bergamot, lemon, and bitter orange keep the brightness alive without letting it tip into cologne territory.
