Sweet Fluff comes from 1973's ongoing conversation with familiar pleasures. The house builds from memory, a kitchen table, a worn jacket, the brush of something soft against skin, then reinterprets those moments through modern technique. With Sweet Fluff, the brief was simple: take cotton candy and marshmallow, two of the most beloved sweetness accords in perfumery, and build something that felt both instantly recognizable and quietly sophisticated. Rosario Cerullo's task was to honor the comfort without losing the craft.
The note structure strips away excess. Cotton candy and marshmallow lead the opening, but they share the stage with a vanilla heart and a musk base that prevents the composition from floating away entirely. What makes this work is the restraint, the sweetness never overwhelms, never cloys. Instead, it stays plush, soft, and powdery throughout. The vanilla appears twice in the pyramid (heart and base), but it reads as a single continuous warmth rather than repetition. The musk does the quiet work of making everything feel worn and skin-close.
The evolution
The opening arrives in a burst of spun sugar and marzipan-soft marshmallow. It's sweet, immediate, and unapologetic. Within the first hour, the marshmallow deepens into something creamier, more atmospheric, the sweetness becomes a presence rather than an event. The vanilla heart settles in close, holding the center for the next several hours. By the drydown, the cotton candy has retreated entirely. What remains is a warm, powdery musk with vanilla woven through like a thread. The sillage drops early, pulling tight against the skin.
