The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Viage set out to bottle the pulse of Buenos Aires, a city where European grandeur meets Latin passion. In 2023 the house translated the capital's iconic plazas, the vivid storefronts of San Telmo, and the echo of tango into scent. The perfumers chose Damask Rose and hibiscus to echo the city's flora, layering them against a spice-forward base that mirrors the city's culinary soul.
The note selection reflects a deliberate balance between the city's floral landscape and its spice-forward cuisine. Rose and hibiscus anchor the composition in something luminous and approachable, while cinnamon and ambrette ground it in warmth. The mint appears sparingly, a calculated freshness that prevents the fragrance from overwhelming. This philosophy of pairing bright opening notes with a durable, textured base results in a scent that moves fluidly from day to evening, reflecting how Buenos Aires itself transitions between light and shadow.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with rose and hibiscus, a pairing that evokes both romantic courtyard gardens and the tropical warmth of Argentine summers. Within the first hour, ambrette emerges alongside cinnamon, adding an aromatic, musky dimension while mint introduces a fleeting coolness. The drydown marks the transition into the city's nocturnal character, where leather and vanilla create a rich, enveloping warmth that speaks to late-night tango halls and candlelit plazas.
Cultural impact
Wearers often describe Beaming Buenos Aires as a scented passport to the Argentine capital, noting its ability to evoke the city’s vibrant street life and historic charm. Compared with other Viage city scents, it stands out for its bold rose‑hibiscus opening and the lingering leather‑vanilla drydown, making it a favorite among those who appreciate a fragrance that feels both travel‑inspired and unmistakably urban.
