The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The name says everything. Cherry Blossom, not a metaphor, not a reference. The actual flower, translated into scent. Cherry blossom blooms for two weeks in spring, a fleeting moment celebrated in Japan but felt everywhere. The Master Perfumer wanted to capture that: the beauty of something that doesn't stay. Cherry Bloom N°18 is a study in spring's most ephemeral moment, built from cherry blossom at its heart, supported by raspberry's tart brightness and white wood's clean warmth.
The challenge with cherry blossom is that it's subtle. Its scent is more poetic idea than olfactory reality, delicate, fleeting, often described as vaguely almond or powdery. Building a fragrance around it requires trust in what surrounds it. The raspberry doesn't compete with the blossom; it gives it something to push against, a brightness that prevents soft from becoming vague. The white wood isn't accidental either. It anchors delicate florals without overwhelming them, creating a structure that lets the ephemeral breathe. This is what makes the composition work: it captures spring's most fleeting moment without trying to freeze it in place.
The evolution
Cherry blossom opens clean and bright, almost watery at first, with a delicate floral quality that feels like morning air through an open window. The raspberry arrives within minutes, adding a tart-fruity edge that keeps the sweetness honest. Neither note dominates. For the next hour, cherry blossom and raspberry exist in balance, each reinforcing the other's presence. White wood enters around the two-hour mark, providing warmth and a quiet drydown that carries the remaining wear. The transition isn't dramatic. It's the difference between a fresh flower and the memory of one. What lingers is the warmth more than the florals themselves, a clean, close finish that stays with you through the afternoon and into evening, never demanding attention, just present.
Cultural impact
Cherry Bloom N°18 occupies a particular corner of the independent perfume world, not the confrontational or challenging work, but the accessible study. The wearers who gravitate here are those who've moved past needing fragrance to announce them. They trust their nose over branding. They chose this number in the collection because the name told them exactly what to expect: cherry blossom, handled honestly, without pretense.
