The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza composed Velvety Cream Delight in 2023 as part of The Dua Brand's Original Blend Collection, and the brief seems clear from the first spray: make a gourmand that earns its creaminess from something other than vanilla. The fragrance leans on banana and pear for its fruit sweetness, then layers in tiare and white florals to keep the tropical reading honest. The tiare carries that recognizable creamy-floral depth, almost waxy and indulgent, while the broader white floral accord lifts the whole composition away from anything that smells like candy. Sandalwood, amber, and musk hold the bottom together so nothing tips into sticky.
What makes the structure interesting is the balance between recognizable gourmand cues and a creamy floral backbone. The banana and pear read as dessert, but tiare, jasmine, and rose pull it back toward a lush white floral territory. The tiare does a lot of the bridging work, softening the fruit so it never crosses into synthetic territory, while the jasmine contributes a slight green lift and the rose rounds the edges with a soft, almost powdery warmth.
The evolution
The opening lands directly into the fruit heart within minutes, no long warm-up or bright accord to cut through first. Banana arrives first, round and almost custard-like, followed quickly by pear and tiare, which together smell like the first ten minutes of walking into a warm room after being outside. The jasmine and rose build gradually, and for a while the fragrance holds this creamy floral-fruity plateau where everything feels suspended in balance. The tiare is the constant thread through this middle phase, lending its waxy floral creaminess to everything around it and preventing the banana from reading as one-note. By the two-hour mark the sandalwood starts pushing through, warm and slightly woody, while the amber wraps underneath. The banana mellows into something almost milky rather than overtly fruity, and the tiare softens from creamy to almost suede-like.
Cultural impact
Velvety Cream Delight lands in a space where banana notes have become a quietly deliberate choice rather than a gimmick, and the fragrance treats its tropical fruit heart with unusual seriousness. Wearers who gravitate toward it tend to be the ones who want dessert-adjacent warmth without the candy-shop intensity, and who appreciate a banana note that reads as a deliberate choice rather than a novelty. The way the tiare threads through the composition also gives it crossover appeal for anyone drawn to creamy white florals, since the fruit never overpowers the floral backbone.
