The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Tea in the Rain arrived in 2025 from Mahsam Raza, the nose behind The Dua Brand. The concept is elemental. Tea. Rain. Rather than chasing complexity, Raza built the composition around a single sensation, the moment when the air after a shower carries the green-cool weight of wet leaves and warm stone. Magnolia anchors the heart with its creamy softness, while lemongrass keeps the opening sharp enough to feel alive. It's a study in restraint. The lemongrass arrives with a crisp, herbal intensity, the kind of green that brightens without ever veering into sharp or harsh territory. Beneath that brightness, the tea accord unfolds with a quiet warmth, offering a soft, steeped quality that rounds out the citrus edges.
The note list is almost suspiciously simple. Six ingredients, no smoke-and-mirror base hiding underneath. What makes Tea in the Rain interesting is the interplay between lemongrass and magnolia, two materials that meet in unexpected territory. The lemongrass brings a clean green brightness that lifts the composition from the first spray. Magnolia rounds it with a lemony-creamy softness that pulls the grass back toward skin. Hay and honey arrive as warmth, giving the composition its grounded, slightly sun-warmed finish.
The evolution
The first impression is all lemongrass. Bright, almost bracing, the kind of green that makes you think of stems more than leaves. The tea accord settles in underneath, softening the opening into something more cohesive. Magnolia moves through the center stage, creamy and quiet, with hay adding a faint dry edge that keeps it from turning too pretty. Honey warms the composition without sweetening it. What lingers is the base of honeyed hay and faded tea, a soft skin-scent that stays close for the rest of the day. The progression unfolds gradually, each phase layering onto the last without abrupt transitions. As the initial brightness of the lemongrass recedes, the warmer elements gain presence, shifting the composition from crisp and green to something more grounded and golden. The tea accord acts as a thread throughout, softening shifts and maintaining cohesion across the wearing.
Cultural impact
Tea in the Rain fits within The Dua Brand's growing catalog of approachable compositions. The brand has continued to build out its offerings with releases that emphasize clarity and directness over complexity. Tea as a note has appeared across both niche and mainstream houses for years, appearing in various forms and interpretations. This release takes its own approach, combining the tea accord with lemongrass, magnolia, hay, and honey to create something that reads fresh yet familiar. The composition doesn't rely on rare materials or avant-garde constructions to make its point.
