The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Stinky Dude launched in 2023 as part of The Dua Brand's Dua Designer Line, and perfumer Mahsam Raza created a composition that takes the sticky, herbal realism of cannabis seriously. The ingredient list reads like a roster of materials with earthy, pungent, or animal-adjacent qualities. Black pepper, cannabis, sage, cacao, and palo santo each bring something raw to the table, and Raza's choice to combine them produces a masculine aromatic-spicy composition that feels grounded in unconventional territory. The cannabis note isn't smoothed away or used as a quiet accent. It sits at the center of the blend, surrounded by spice and resin rather than buried beneath them.
What makes this composition worth a closer look is the unusual way several pungent, resinous materials share space at the heart of the scent. Cannabis and cacao share a dry, earthy sweetness, with the cannabis contributing a green, slightly sweet funk and the cacao adding a powdered warmth. Sage brings a dusty herbal bitterness that reads almost medicinal, dry and savory at once. Palo santo introduces a smoldering wood element, the kind of curling smoke you'd expect from incense burning in a quiet room, not from a typical masculine cologne.
The evolution
The first ten minutes belong to bergamot and pomelo, sharp and clean, with black pepper cutting through like someone cracked a window. Cannabis arrives quickly, not as a base but as a middle presence, giving the opening a green, slightly sweet funk that lingers through every phase. The heart settles into a dense herbal territory where sage goes dry and dusty, cacao adds a powdered warmth, and the cannabis note deepens into something earthier and more vegetal as it ages. There's no point where the cannabis disappears. It deepens. Palo santo and cedar ground everything into a smoldering woody foundation in the late heart and base, tonka bean adding a soft vanillic sweetness that rounds out the cacao without smoothing it over. The drydown remains warm and herbal for hours, with the wood and tonka carrying most of the weight while the cannabis holds on as a faint green thread underneath.
Cultural impact
Stinky Dude sits in a specific lane that prioritizes herbal, earthy character over the clean and polished territory most masculine fragrances occupy. The cannabis-forward profile gives it a presence that's hard to mistake for anything else in a crowded market. The name alone signals the kind of scent it intends to be, and the cannabis-forward character makes it a conversation piece in a way that a typical woody-citrus composition simply isn't. It's the kind of scent that reads as deliberate from the first wear, with a profile that announces its raw, herbal quality rather than hiding it behind safer constructions.
